Miranda Murillo

Instructor

Miranda grew up performing and her artistic infatuation continually influences how she lives her life. She began her training in dance, musical theater and choir as a child. The amount of joy these activities brought her was immense, however dance pulled at her heartstrings the most. She attended and graduated from the competitive arts high school, The Orange County School of the Arts. She was extremely fortunate to be hired right out of high school as a dancer at Disney’s California Adventure Park. Through dancing, she was introduced to Pilates by fellow peers who had their instructor certifications. Seeing how they were applying the Pilates method into their dance teachings was eye opening for Miranda. Soon after, she began teaching Mexican Folk dance classes which expanded her outlook on her artistic goals by revealing she had a passion for teaching. She too began incorporating the Pilates method to her own teaching and realized the benefits it was having on both her students and herself. Having that personal understanding she enrolled in the Pilates Instructor Certificate Program at Orange Coast College. Since graduating, she has furthered her understanding of Pilates and how it benefits the body. She hopes to teach Pilates and continue to incorporate it into both her performing and teaching. Miranda plans on learning all she can to promote an attainable healthy lifestyle while still staying true to her artistic passions.

Leslie Spellman

Instructor

When Leslie’s Mom was diagnosed with severe Osteoporosis she researched every option to help improve her situation. Pilates was a major component, and once Leslie entered the Pilates world, it was life changing! Her years as a professional dancer, gave her that much more of an appreciation of what Pilates can do for the body, mind, & soul. At the time, her Mom could not afford to take Pilates everyday and Leslie was not going to accept anything less. She became certified through the “Physical Mind Institute.” Not only was able to improve her Mom’s bone density, but became intrigued with the challenges of helping others supersede their goals. Years later, Leslie was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and ultimately in a wheelchair was only able to fully use one side of her upper body. It was Pilates that gave her quality of life back. It required an extensive amount of Pilates research, self determination, and continued motivation. Feeling blessed and grateful, Leslie left the doctors in awe as she regained her strength and mobility. Since then, Leslie gravitated towards studying the PT side of Pilates. Her continuing education courses include Breast Cancer, Osteoporosis, Gait, and Scoliosis to name a few… Leslie considers herself a “walking miracle” and wants nothing more than to share her blessings by teaching others Pilates to help them overcome physical obstacles impeding their quality of life.
